The Cafe Head Baker position involves working in the café, focused on baking, including when the Chef is away. This position involves kitchen duties including preparing baked offerings, designing and costing baking program, baking and food prep, kitchen cleaning and using all kitchen appliances in accordance with their safety procedures and manufacturers instructions. It also includes ‘front house’ duties such as interacting with customers, making coffee and setting up drinks and to-go foods. Little Sprout Café is a social enterprise operated by Communitas Supportive Care Society, which provides employment training to people with disabilities.

Here's what we need from you:

• Knowledgeable of all standards and regulations regarding the handling, delivery, storage, and preparation of food
• Graduation from a recognized baking program or equivalent with a minimum 1-2 Years experience in a commercial kitchen baking role
• Effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and experience in MarketMan an asset
• Must be physically able to lift a weight of 30 lbs if needed and provide own non-slip closed toe shoes
• High energy and highly motivated with strong interpersonal, leadership, motivational and organizational skills
• Able to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently without supervision
• A philosophy of service that is in line with Communitas’ Vision, Mission and Values
• Possession of a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license (Or willing and able to obtain one)
• Current Emergency First Aid Certificate with CPR and proof of Full Covid Vaccination

This position requires availability between Monday to Friday, 5am to 10am, and Saturdays 4:30am-12:30pm during market season only (May-October)
